About Powdersville
Located in Anderson County, South Carolina, Powdersville is a census-designated place with a population of about 7,600 residents. It also covers about 14 square miles of space and provides a location off Highway 153. Powdersville was a farming community for many years before it became a more residential area.
The name comes from the production of gunpowder, which used to be huge in Powdersville. A powder mill was found here in the 1800s. Today, the community is still home to many historic buildings, but it’s not known for gunpowder anymore.
